UCSF and NNPDF
Partnership for Research
and Clinical Services
Funded by a generous grant from the Genzyme Corporation, NNPDF and the University of California-San Francisco (UCSF) - Stanford Lysosomal Disease Center have established a partnership for Niemann-Pick Disease (NPD) research and clinical services. The partnership will focus on the d delivery of novel therapies, clinical and laboratory investigations, and the provision of comprehensive and multi-disciplinary evaluation, treatment, and genetic counseling for individuals with Niemann-Pick Disease and their families as well as individuals with other lysosomal storage diseases (LSD).
The UCSF-Stanford Lysosomal Disease Center, established in 1993, focuses on 1) community and professional education, 2) implementation of novel therapies and diagnostic methods for lysosomal storage disorders, 3) fostering of collaborations among diverse specialists in the clinical care of patients with lysosomal storage diseases, and 4) research in this area of genetic medicine. The Center provides comprehensive and multi-disciplinary evaluation and counseling, and will serve as a west coast research and clinical focal point for the delivery of treatments for Niemann-Pick Disease, as well as other LSDs, as they are developed.
